As regards the NFS hanging bit, I don't run NFS as home, so I don't worry
about it.

As regards the initial comment of

I think that was David Holland said that -- certainly not my opinion.

And, as much as I hate to concur/admit, yeah, csh as a family of shells
is pretty much deprecated to the boneyard [although I know someone who
still runs it because bash doesn't permit constructs like alias '='=something;
