Strange problem with daily security script

I've updated a couple of systems to 5.99.59 and the daily security 
script is having troubles maintaining the backup copies of various 
files.  I get lots of

        ci: output error: No space left on device
        ci aborted

messages.  The systems were built and installed from sources updated via 
anoncvs on 2012-01-09 at 04:41:18 UTC
