Sure.  But ddb.onpanic can not only be set at kernel configuration time,
the man page I just checked says that it defaults to 1, i.e., enter ddb
rather than rebooting.

I'm not saying you're wrong about the abort issue -- I haven't made up
my mind yet, though I'm leaning towards your way of thinking -- but I
am saying that there's a difference between panicking and rebooting.
