I figured I could set NAMED_DEBUG for a build.sh cross-build.
Unfortunately, that seems a seldomly-used path:
[...]
# link dig/dig
/u/netbsd-builds/developer/sparc/tools/bin/sparc--netbsdelf-gcc
--sysroot=/u/netbsd-builds/developer/sparc/destdir -Wl --fatal-warnings -o
dig dig.o dig host.o -lbind9_g -ldns_g -llwres_g -lisccfg_g -lisccc_g
-lisc_g -lpthread -lcrypto
-Wl,-rpath-link,/u/netbsd-builds/developer/sparc/destdir/lib -L=/lib
/u/netbsd-builds/developer/sparc/tools/lib/gcc/sparc--netbsdelf/4.1.3/../../../.
./sparc--netbsdelf/bin/ld: cannot find -lbind9_g
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
*** [dig] Error code 1
nbmake: stopped in /public/netbsd-developer/external/bsd/bind/bin/dig
1 error
... maybe a concurrency problem - the build was "-j3"?
