As long as there is an option of manually setting the clock speed, it's fine with me. Without that all of my IBM/Lenovo laptops overheat (when put to proper use) and crash.

I am well aware of this. However, I would not consider clock modulation as a
power management feature (actually, I would advice anyone to not use it as
such). But sure, if we can find actual users, the option will be provided.
