I think that those are just qualifiers on the media configuration, and
they do not indicate a media state.  This is normal for one wm0 on one
of my boxes:

       media: Ethernet autoselect (1000baseT 
full-duplex,flowcontrol,rxpause,txpause)


Hmmm, then there must be some other reason for it not to transmit any packets (like ARP). Time to dig further.
