My previous employer used those:

At the time, using them under Linux was a royal PITA because it
required patches (for the memory window IIRC).  I was very happy
when they released the ExpressCard host card.

I did try the card in a NetBSD laptop for the sake of it at some point,
but I couldn't really get a ppb(4) to attach properly at cardbus.  Not
that I tried hard.

I think anybody is better off such devices, anyway.
