This issue keeps on coming up.  If anybody has a patch that will allow
build.sh to reliably determine the name of the object directory
and pre-create it, please post the patch.

As always, my advice is to not rely on the complex rules that are used
to choose the default obj directory.  Just pass a -O flag to build.sh.
