It looks like you copied "pkgsrc/mk/defaults/mk.conf" to "/etc/mk.conf".
Please removed that file, it is not supposed to be used that way.
The correct way is to add entries for individual things that you want
to change from the defaults.
Do you have "CFLAGS", "CC" or similar set in the
enviroment?

What kind of system (e.g. amd64 or i386) is it?
$uname -m -> amd64

What version of NetBSD are you using?
$uname -r -> 4.0
This mailing list is for people using NetBSD-current, the latest
development version, but you are running the latest NetBSD release.
Please use the "netbsd-user" or "pkgsrc-users" mailing list instead.
