Strange problems on this "new" laptop I have from work:

I cannot seem to come up with a working XF86config file. "xf86cfg"
starts the X server, but it either powers off the LCD backlight, or just
doesn't start up.

Closing the lid causes the LCD backlight to go out, and opening it again
does not cause it to come on again. This is true under text mode. It
will never come on again without a reboot.

Anyone else have one of these and have a fix?
