It is as if time has slowed down on that box.  "sleep 1" will not sleep
one second but a seemingly variable number.  "top" will update not its
usual 2 seconds or whatever the default is, but perhaps up to 10.
"netstat -inbw 1" will not display one line per second, but randomly.

The machine continues to serve web pages, although oddly, the postgresql
database works still, but timeouts seem to never happen.

Very odd.
