Problem with modular Xorg when memory is increased from 1GB to 2GB



I have a new Panasonic CF-Y7 laptop. It uses the Intel 965GM graphics. When the laptop has 1GB of memory installed, X windows works correctly. When this is increased to 2GB, the screen is filled with horizontal stripes of apparent garbage.

OS is 32-bit NetBSD 4.99.51

The modular Xorg server package is:

modular-xorg-server-1.3.0.0nb4

and the Intel driver module:

xf86-video-intel-2.1.1

DRI is not being used.

I ran Memtest 86+ for a complete pass with no errors.

Laptop BIOS permits little configuration.

Suggestions?
