this means you need the 'radeon' driver for x, not amdgpu.  the
early "GCN" chipsets are handled by radeon, though there is some
disabled by default code in amdgpu for them, it hangs for me when
i enable it and so it remains disabled (same as upstream.).

if "radeon0 at pci*" attaches, then you need radeon.
if "amdgpu0 at pci*" attaches, amdgpu etc.


i stopped using my old 5450's when i got a second monitor and
pushed my total screen size beyond what it can handle, but i've
had better success with "modesetting" driver lately for both
amdgpu laptop and radeon laptop, it just needs to use eg, mpv
-vo=gpu instead of xv.
