While here, perhaps unrelated to the original issue, there are two
packages, noto-ttf and noto-emoji-ttf, the latter is supposed to be a
subset of the former. However, NotoColorEmoji.ttf font from
noto-emoji-ttf is almost twice the size of the same font installed by
noto-ttf.

NotoEmoji-Regular appears the same. Perhaps shunt the *Emoji* fonts
