Re: gcc14 on NetBSD 10

A quick google suggests that NetBSD 10's assembler is too old for the code that gcc14 is generating.  Have we struck this issue with any other package?  Is there a fix?

Yes. Sort of.

I encountered it when upgrading the cross compilers. The fix is to make gcc14 depend on a newer binutils. gcc14 *might* document which binutils it needs, but I'm pretty sure I just picked the latest binutils for the cross compilers. I don't have a good understanding of how that works for the native pkgsrc compilers but it should be pretty straightforward.

I really should pull my finger out and commit the work I've done. Not during the careful period though. Feel free to harass me later today or tomorrow. Actually, the weather's nice for a change so I should drop by and you can harass me in person.

Ngā mihi,
Lloyd
