gettext 1.0

After updating my SmartOS build host to the latest release I immediately 
hit this:

  [11682/27286]     Failed gettext-lib-0.22.5 (21152)               4m 20s

caused by bugs in the bundled gnu-lib distributed in that version.

Upstream released 1.0 a little while ago, and a quick test locally shows 
that gettext-lib-1.0 builds fine on the same host.  Is anyone already 
looking at this, or have any reasons why we shouldn't upgrade?

Looks like the same issue also caused this:

  [  289/27286]     Failed libunistring-1.2 (11806)                 1m 35s

and that also has a much newer release available, so there could be a 
few to update.  Hopefully not too many upstreams have bundled this 
broken version of gnu-lib.
