Split python client from sysutils/ups-nut ?
The pkg sysutils/ups-nut includes support for a python extension (PyNUT) and
a test for that part.
I think it would be good to split out everything requiring python from
this pkg into a separate (sysutils/ups-py-nut ?) pkg, even if the build
system does not make that straightforward.
Alternative: split out the client part (everything but upsd, the drivers
and PyNUT) into a separate (sysutils/ups-nut-client?) package.
Background: the client part of ups-nut is very lightweight and can
easily be build and installed on very tiny machines that share a common
UPS. Forcing this machines to build python is relatively heavy (my
ERLITE3 [tiny 500 MHz dual CPU Mips machine] spent most of yesterday
building perl for libxslt already and now is working on python for
ups-nut).
But of course this comes with a (maintenance) cost, and I am not sure it
is worth the effort - what do others think?
