Sure, you can, it’s open source :)

The simplest way to get involved is to ask for access to pkgsrc-wip. See http://pkgsrc.org/wip/ for details.

Once you have a package in pkgsrc-wip, you can ask for it to be imported into pkgsrc itself if you would like.
