I just learned about "System Integrity Protection", which is a feature
in the next Mac OS version:

   http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/193368/what-is-the-rootless-feature-in-el-capitan-really/193379#193379

Apparently even root now cannot modify /usr, except for /usr/local.
This sounds like a challenge for pkgsrc, given the default /usr/pkg
   prefix.

   Ideas?

We could always just make the default prefix be /usr/local/pkg instead
of /usr/pkg on OS X.
