Do you have the latest patches from PR pkg/48595?

If so, they may be out of date again.  I've just started updating my
packages and haven't gotten to firefox on macppc yet.

Caveat:  In the past, while I got it to build, it would die with segfault
when I tried to run it, but haven't put effort into investigating that
yet.
