It would probably be good to put the 3.0.0 package (without redoing the plugin scheme) in wip. That way other people could relatively easily try it, and your work would be available to the next person who tries. A TODO file that talks about the crash (including OS version and arch it's been observed on) would be good, too. You could then file a bug with Abiword. We're in a freeze right now, and even leaf updates are best avoided. With the crashes you are seeing, it seems that upgrading main pkgsrc to 3.0.0 is probably in order.
