If I may chime in: other BSDs (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, MirBSD) might also be
interested in this part as they also have kqueue. (I for one would
readily take this for MirBSD.) Please try to keep this in mind.

The same goes for the GIO patches. In the configure, test if kqueue is
present and not only if the OS is NetBSD.
