PAM problem with netatalk package

[also sent to tech-userlevel]

Attempting to use PAM to authenticate in the netatalk package fails
currently (5.0_STABLE/i386) with this message logged:

Apr 30 16:51:37 turakirae afpd[10115]: DHX2 login: cliffe
Apr 30 16:51:37 turakirae afpd[10115]: DHX2: logincont2 alive!

pam_nologin.so found
Apr 30 16:51:37 turakirae afpd[10115]: DHX2: PAM_Error: system error

PAM works fine for everything else.

A ktrace of the process gives:

Having looked at openpam_load_module(), I can't see why its trying to open
pam_nologin.so. Can anyone else see whats going on here?

cheers
mark
