No, no problem with pango.
Apparently the problem is with gecko, it appears both with firefox and
seamonkey and has something to do with handling an invalid css file,
one containing a line
padding=
instead of
padding:
From that moment characters begin to be eaten.
Nothing to do with pkgsrc however, I guess, sorry for the noise.
