up2date - something for NetBSD?
Hi,
I know there are some tools to make a package maintainers life
easier, but what do you think about an up2date variable, like for
example in Frugalware[1] for pkgsrc?
It's a 'curl' or 'lynx -dump' and some regex stuff to look for
the latest version of the software the package installs. It will
then be compared with the one currently in the package and inform
the maintainer (or the user) about a newer version. See [1] for
an example.
I'm not sure, what's the best way to implement it and in fact I
don't maintain so many packages that I would really need this
feature to track newer versions, but maybe someone likes (and
needs) that idea and wants to implement it. Maybe it's also a
good thing to learn more about pkgsrc and I'll do it, but first I
wish to hear you opionions.
