The version script portability issue is trivial to fix, just patch it
away if the application doesn't know how to autodetect support
properly. (I did it once already in patch-ad.)

That said, gamin does seem to have issues. My sylpheed just hung with
lots of "Failed to connect to socket /tmp/fam-tnn/fam-" scrolling
on the terminal.
