Yep, go for it.

Usually I am using detached signatures for the bulk uploads I am
doing,well I am signing the SHA512 file. I should sign the whole file
that's what I'll do in the future.

However cacert.org is an organisation which already set up a nice root
ca. Maybe can use their model. I don't want to rely on their
infrastructure, however a big advantage is that they might be included
in browsers, email clients in future.

Why should we set up our own model then - just a point of view -
nothing to serious, I might change my pov, just liked the idea.
