Yes, the commit with log looks fine. FWIW, I don't like the use of the word "legacy", essentially ever, but especially not when the thing being dissed has not been well and truly formally deprecated. I am also befuddled with KERNEL_DIR being 'recent' and also '5 years ago' but that's not about redoing the commit msg :-)
