Thanks :)

I suppose this involves the compatibility layer in a way or another?
Shall we keep the ioctl available but return ENOTSUP/ENOSYS or something
like that?

This way the day we restore support for this we can simply return 0
again. I am definitely interested in this sort of boot-time eye candy,
and still using SPLASHSCREEN on my desktop (Radeon HD). It doesn't seem
to work on my laptop though (Intel).

From a quick glance at the current code I believe we currently return
EINVAL, but I did not find the exact right place yet (where EPASSTHROUGH
goes to die). Hints or mentoring welcome :)

Cheers,
