Even if it wasn't prevented by hardware limitations, I think you would also need to write a new firmware (like SIMH for extending MV3900 memory past 64 MB of real machines).
Considering that the firmware can be loaded and flashed via MOP, this doesn't seem like an insurmountable problem...
