I am trying to cobble together a MMJ cable from a telefon cable. Are the DSR DTR connnections essential to be shorted across?
They are not needed at all, neither to be cross connected nor connected to the remote machine.
I have 4-pin telefon cables in abundance, but can't find a 6-pin like most of the pinouts require.
You don't need 6 pin phone cables - you just need the two outer pins of a four pin cable. Check this out here:
