And to clarify (after double checking some of my notes), I suspect I managed to configure it to ignore sync and refresh when I had it in there (wrong monitor section). I'm also not sure I had the proper values for sync and refresh. I've got it going at some packages right now, and after that I'll check against the modes listed in OpenPROM as well as looking for more plausible values out on the net.
