If you examine the inside of the lid you may be lucky enough to find the manufacturing markings. If there is a recycle symbol then the number associated with that symbol will give you the material. Otherwise they may have actually written what the material is.
Today my Ultra2 case brittled even more when I had it to open (and not at the glue point!). I had glued this one with Cyanacrilate.
The metal sheet now comes off since plastic rivets brittled too. The case is marked PC-ABS so Polycarbonate + Acrylonitrate Butadiene StyreneABS is a very high quality plastic and I have objects last long... so there must be a production issue for it to age this bad.
