I've played with cg6 code a fair bit, and I've seen a symptom where the
framebuffer goes into a weird nonworking state.  It doesn't sound quite
like the same problem as yours, but in my case it seemed to be fixed by
adding additional calls to drain the cg6's rendering queue - and some
implementations have the problem and some don't.  Perhaps what you're
seeing is something similar?
