Hi,

It's been a while (and I no longer have a SS20 with a CG14 
to test on but...)

Are you sure that you're using 24 bit mode?  I don't remember the
CG14 working in 8 bit mode.

Looking at, what, /var/log/X*.log will probably give some sort of clue.
