Re: Dead SS20 NetBSD machine

I had something similar on sparc64 machine - Ultra 10. The machine
would come on, i.e. the fans and disks would start spinning, but it
wouldn't boot. It turned out to be a dead battery inside the NVRAM
module (I found it the hard way - I thought it was the CPU, tried
resitting the CPU by pulling it out and plugging it back in and
snapped one of the connecting pins. After that I just had to buy
another machine on ebay). The battery's life cycle is about 10 years,
after that it can't be recharged anymore. Since the battery is built
into NVRAM module and thus not replacable, you need to pull out and
replace the whole NVRAM module, then you need to reprogram it.

Well this was on sparc64, not sure how it's similar to sparc. Maybe
find a spare NVRAM module and try replacing it.
