Yes, but only very late, after probing all devices and mounting root.
Could you temporarily hook up a serial console (just connect the db9 and
remove the keyboard) and see if that helps, or at least gets you enough
output so we can debug the problem?

Compiling a kernel with options DDB would be another way to get more info,
if the problem happens late enough.
