The PowerPC 405 is in-tree and is similar to 440, but there are some differences. I'm not sure how similar e500 is.
In pmap wise, the two are different beasts. The following URL describes the basic characteristics of AMCC/IBM PPC440. http://www.alacron.com/downloads/vncl98076xz/440_Programming_Model.pdf And the next is how FreeBSD approached to handle e500 core; http://www.bsdcan.org/2007/schedule/attachments/17-embedding_FreeBSD_PowerPC_Rafal_Jaworowski.pdf Then summary of e500 core is here; http://mcuol.com/download/upfile/PN305.pdf (I feel uncomfortable to see obscure L1 MMU and L2 MMU naming scheme...)
