re: gcc bug fix from 2.95.4 prerelease to be committed

   I plan to commit this on monday unless someone wants it not to be
   committed, or encourages me to commit it sooner.


changes that come from the FSF, particularly from the branch that
the compiler is on, are generally good candidates for inclusion
in our tree.... i see no real reason to wait.  if there are bugs,
we can back it out.
