Re: 601 vs PowerPC for NetBSD

Hello,

I'll dare to make the following synopsis of the descussion (adding my on
opinions):

o The 601 included, at the user level
                a number of POWER compatible
                registers and instructions.

Since NetBSD is a new port and does
not use any of these features there is
need to be concerned by this.
(Unless of course you are foolish
enough to attempt AIX compatibility :-)

        o The 601 timer

Yep that would be a problem but only a
                minor one.

o The 601 vm and cache

                The VM and a few
other querks could produce a few
                problems. However the underlying
VM architecture is still fairly close.

        enjoy,
                Andrew
