FYI: i got a netbsd-7 ofppc nfsroot setup.  X works ok there.

also, netbsd-8 kernel with the netbsd-7 userland works, so it
is something in xorg-server 1.18 or the libraries triggering
the kernel hang.  -current kernel works here too.
