New to this hardware
Hello All,
I am new to Motorola MVME hardware. I have recently acquired two cpu
boards and some associated bits and pieces, so naturally I would like
to get NetBSD running on it.
A little background -- 25 years ago I netbooted an old 68k-based Sun
machine -- a 3/150 if I recall correctly. I also have installed
NetBSD Mac68k macs, and a SparcStation20. I'm a Linux system
administrator by profession, so I'm comfortable with what lies ahead.
What I don't know is Motorola MVME and ... BUG? The hardware I have
is an Augat 7 slot chassis with Schroff VME 7-Slot backplane, a
Motorola MVME 162-222 with the '040 cpu installed, a Motorola MVME712M
Transition Module, and a second cpu/sbc -- a Motorola MVME 177-003
with the '060 installed.
The hardware is untested and I have not powered any of it up yet.
Visually it looks to be in good condition. My hope is to test both
the 177 and 162. And then boot strap one of them into NetBSD. I am
hopeful the 712M works with both cpu boards. Where do I check what
works with what?
For disk(s) I intended to us a ZuluSCSI sd card scsi emulator I have one hand.
For PSU I am going to use an ATX power supply with a break out board
to get easy access to +5, +12, -12 to power the backplane.
Suggestions on my next steps, and sanity checks, are welcome and encouraged.
Thanks everyone,
-MIke
