Re: NetBSD 9 PC card network drivers for IBM Workpad Z50

I have no idea what you expect me to do with a windows .exe file.

Hi Paul

Thanks for your helpful message.

The version that worked was NetBSD 7.0.2, but gave up as I didn’t know the command to run the OS after it was successfully installed!

Version 9 install did not recognise the card at all.

Sorry but don’t have the time to do much more. The following is the exact details of the driver. Happy to test if someone is willing to include it in version 9.

Please post the dmesg output from a _working_ NetBSD-7 boot. We
still need to figure out which driver is afffected.

Also, have you tried NetBSD-8 to see if that works? It would be
useful to narrow down the range of time in which the "difference"
was introduced.

Hello,

I managed to download NetBSD 7 using the PC Card, but when I tried to download NetBSD 9.1 it did not recognise the PC Card was stuck as does not have an Ethernet port. The IBM Workpad Z50 needs WPC11 v3 as v4 or later comes with the gold connector and is 32 bit this one is 16 bit I think.

Isn’t there any way of copying across the driver from version 7 to version 9?

Kind regards

David

Hello

?The makeand model is as stated Linksys Network PC Card WPC11 ver 3 (version 4 or later did not work for NetBSD 7). I don?t have the drivers for it but here are more details:

That does not help. I mean: (a) why do you think it worked for NetBSD 7?
Do you know first hand? If so, what driver did it use there?

(b) why do you think it is not supported in newer NetBSD? You could
show output from dmesg after inserting that card for example.

My bet would be some kind of Atheros chipset, so either ath(4) or athn(4)
could work.

Martin
