The ati driver is just a frontend, it will load radeon, r128 or mach64  
depending on your hw.

This is weird, the radeon driver works fine on my U60. Didn't have a  
chance to test it on macppc though.
Sounds like it panics on exit. Is there anything interesting in you  
Xorg.0.log?
