Once you get tinyx-wscons installed I also make the following changes:

I move /usr/X11R7/lib/fonts/75dpi out of the fonts directory and rerun 
/etc/rc.d/fccache
(more fonts to load naturally require more memory)

I change uxtem to xterm in ctwmrc and /usr/X11R7/bin/startx

I also change these lines in /usr/X11R7/bin/startx to make tinyx the default:

defaultserver=/usr/pkg/sbin/Xwscons
defaultserverargs="-keyrate 50 -n -10 -schedInterval 500 +extension DOUBLE-
BUFFER -extension RENDER -fp /usr/X11R7/lib/X11/fonts/misc/ -tcp -ac -fb 
/dev/ttyE0 -gray -staticmap apple"

staticmap apple is required for use with a colour display (you would also 
remove the -gray) as there are no colormap callbacks at present in the kernel 
for the powerbooks lcd controller (im getting around to looking at it in the 
near future).

You can use the powerbook with an external color display provided it is set to 
display 1 in the Montorts control panel in MacOS.
