I'm not familiar with the retrocomputing events in your part of the
world but expect it was lovely.

The version of Windows CE the Jornada 680/690 has only supports FAT16
(https://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/200061/compact_flash_cf_cards_and_handheld_pcs/),
so anything larger than 2GB will probably come formatted with a FAT32
partition the device cannot understand.
Before you spend money on a 4GB card, you may want to try using a
NetBSD PC to repartition your 8GB card to have only a small FAT16
partition and see if the device can read that -- unless, of course,
you have already tried this.
