Where did you get that snapshot from?  Are you sure you ahve updated
the kernel on the DOS partition of the CF card, i.e. that you are
actually booting the kernel from the snapshot?

No, 2.99 *was* current before -3 branch was cut.  Current is 3.99.*
now.
