The zero-2w has a wifi chip from a different manufacturer that needs
custom firmware. The chip still identifies as the broadcom device,
that's why the driver cannot select it by chip id.
Raspberry Pi Linux works around this by storing a chip id in
the DTB that overrides what the chip says, but our driver doesn't
understand that (nor is that information in our DTB file).

It stops when _sending_ too fast. The "flow control" that the driver
understands signals that the chip is busy, but that condition is
sometimes never relaxed and sending stops.
In -current, the driver tries to send even when stalled like that,
which often causes a firmware error but then recovers. That obviously
drops packets and reduces performance.
