I'm quoting a posting on this list from 2022:

This is still necessary? I got the same autoconfiguration error after
installing the 10.1 release image together with UEFI.
After I added the link to "brcmfmac43455-sdio.Raspberry Pi 4 Model
B.txt", the missing NVRAM file was found, and I also saw the message
"CHIPACTIVE". But afterwards, shortly after going multiuser, the system
hard-resets and corrupts the file system.
It never did that before, so it is very likely a result of the WiFi chip
activation. Is there any chance to run RPi4/UEFI with wireless network?
Regards,
Hello Frank,
I bought my RPI4 and installed NetBSD-10.0 1.5 years ago under
github/https://github.com/pftf/RPi4 UEFI firmware. I also remember to
make that symbolic link. But I use my RPI4 over ethernet, my case is
metallic and I did not expect good WIFI coverage. Also did not have good
experience with bfwm driver in the RPiZeroW, so I decided to go the
ethernet route. Good decission, it works solid.
But now I have just issued the following commands, it even picks some
access points inside the metallic case:
netbsd-raspa4# ifconfig bwfm0 up
netbsd-raspa4# ifconfig bwfm0 list scan

Hope someone had fixed it in the next NetBSD-11 Release.
Regards.
Ramiro.
