OK, is that with the same kernel but different userlands ?
I tried the earm and earmv5 compiled kernels that matched the userlands.
What do you get if you run: # /sbin/sysctl hw.pagesize
Hitting return to get /bin/sh in single user mode printed so many messages that I never actually got a shell prompt, even after letting it run for several minutes.
